| After completing your first jump you may proceed through one of two student programs to be cleared to jump without supervision; Accelerated Freefall (AFF) or the Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD) programs. All student jumps are conducted in accordance with the guidelines established by the United State Parachute Association.
Accelerated Freefall - In order to complete the AFF program you will, at a minimum, complete 10 freefalls. The first two of these jumps are with two instructors. The remaining jumps are with one instructor. There is approximately 30 min. to 1 hr of ground training before each jump. During these jumps you will progress in air skills by performing various maneuvers; 90 and 360 degree turns, maintain a heading, barrel rolls, front and back flips, etc. You will also learn how to control the parachute to land within a 25 meter area. Instructor Assisted Deployment Method - To complete the IAD program you will as a complete 4 more IAD jumps followed by 10 freefalls. The freefalls are progressed in altitudes from 4,000 feet to over 10,000 feet. There is approximately 30 min. to 1 hr of ground training before each jump. During these jumps you will progress in air skills by performing various maneuvers; 90 and 360 degree turns, maintain a heading, barrel rolls, front and back flips, etc. You will also learn how to control the parachute to land within a 25 meter area. Advanced Freefall Training - After completion of either the AFF of IAD program you are ready for your advanced freefall air skills training. This training is conducted by a properly rated instructor of coach. At a minimum, you will perform 4 freefalls with your instructor or coach. During this freefall you will demonstrate you air skills by performing forward and backward movement, varying your rate of descent and docking. Getting your USPA 'A' License - In order to receive your license you must have completed the AFF or IAD program, completed the coached jumps and completed a total of 25 jumps. You are permitted to do solo jumps after your coached jumps to obtain you total of 25 jumps. Your 25th jump is a check dive with an instructor. You will demonstrate various air skill during this jump. After successful completion of this jump and passing an oral examination you will be awarded with your 'A' license. |
